Psychotherapy

College Students

College is a time of both excitement and challenge.

Even the good parts -- having more control over your own life, living with new people, getting to know a new city, forming new relationships, coming out to yourself or others, learning what interests and inspires you -- can create stress. Relating to your family may be complicated, particularly if there have been difficulties at home. Loss, divorce, illness, abuse or substance abuse may factor into your story. You may be the first person in your family to go to college.

Figuring out who you want to be and what you have to work with may be unnecessarily burdensome to do all by yourself.
When you hit a bump in the road, psychotherapy can help you problem solve, understand yourself better and come up with new strategies to move forward.
Getting to know yourself better can be an important part of your college education. Getting a handle on anxiety and/or depression can be crucial to making college work for you.

In my experience, college students can make great strides in psychotherapy, freeing up energy to pursue their life goals. I have worked with college students for over 20 years. I also train other professionals to work with college students.
